Dialogue For Peace Student Professional Development Fellowship Application

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED THROUGH DECEMBER 1, 2025.

Commitments from Fellows

  • Attendance at all training sessions
  • Create a project implementing the tools and knowledge gained in the program and following the guidelines shared in the program
  • Implement and present final project in Spring 2026 

Time Commitment: Winter Quarter 2026

  • Two hours per week for five weeks
  • Two hours to attend and present projects in spring quarter 2026 event (TBD)
  • Implementation of project that includes time to rollout project by the end of spring 2026

Qualifications

  • Must be a continuing undergraduate or graduate student currently employed at UC San Diego through Spring 2026
  • Interest in developing empathy in self and others
  • Interest in understanding others’ perspectives
  • Detail oriented, organized, dependable

Applicants will be assessed on their responses to the below prompts. The selection framework ensures the identification of candidates who align with the program’s goals and demonstrate the readiness to contribute meaningfully to dialogue-based initiatives and facilitation projects.

  • Demonstrated genuine interest in dialogue, facilitation, and program objectives.
  • Clear articulation of the applicant's motivation and goals for the DFP Fellows Program.
  • Commitment to implementing a facilitation project.

What is your understanding of dialogue? Why is it important?

  • Understanding of dialogue as a tool for fostering connection and problem-solving.
  • Awareness of the significance of dialogue in addressing conflicts and building empathy.

Please describe your experiences working with others with perspectives and opinions that contrast with your own.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage constructively with differing viewpoints.
  • Evidence of adaptability, empathy, and collaboration in diverse or challenging environments.

Commitment to implementing a facilitation project (program component).

  • Willingness and readiness to develop and execute a facilitation project as part of the program requirements.
