Heritage Celebrations
UC San Diego celebrates state and federally-recognized heritage months that are coordinated and executed by established campus volunteer committees. Each celebration is provided central administrative support by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Organizational Transformation (VCOT).
The following list includes celebrations that are acknowledged, supported and volunteer-led at UC San Diego. This guidance is up-to-date as of April 2026.
The recognized volunteer-led campuswide heritage celebrations are:
- Latinx Heritage Month (October)
- Native American Heritage Month (November)
- Black History Month Scholarship Month (February)
- Arab American Heritage Month (April)
- Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month (May)
- Jewish American Heritage Month (May)
- Juneteenth (June) – independently coordinated by the Black Staff Association
These heritage celebrations receive financial support from the Chancellor’s Office and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Organizational Transformation, including, when authorized, approved leave time for staff.
